My Trip To Ala Ule
An exciting trip to Ala Ule
Eventually all was well, and the rest of my trip was great with nothing but positive experiences. One example is Wi-Fi was very hard to come by when I had visited. Luckily these guys in the Telesom building let me hang out and use theirs for free! The Telesom building was built in 2008 and was definitely the nicest building in Sheikh District.
♡The best part I have excited the most is the way they arranged the water stream, they have build some sort small water stream yet essential to the farms as each and everyone gets it's own stream from the hill. Yes you probably asked yourself how come a water gets out of a mountain without getting in somewhere.
It's just unsolved mystery yet very complicated and once I have tried to interview some of the villagers their responce was not that much informative.
Some of them said that there is a horizontal long hole and once you get in straight you may not able to turn yourself around, plus once you go further the oxygen will decrease.
To be honest, the journey to Ala Ule was more of an adventure than the town itself! If you drive just 30 minutes outside of Sheikh, you can’t miss these gigantic tortoises walking around. The second tortoise we saw was actually in the middle of the road so we had to pull over and carry it off the street. After we saved its life, I figured the tortoise owed me a photograph but he refused to come out of his shell. A local man saw what I was trying to do and tried to help me out by prodding him with a stick.
Just north of Sheikh about halfway between the mountains and the coast, the landscape is hot and dry. As you ascend up into the mountains, the temperatures quickly get cooler.
The arid land and canyons seen will eventually give way to small shrubs and trees as you ascend several thousand feet. The canyons and lands around Berbera were bone dry despite all the rain I had received while in Erigavo. It seemed the weather on my trip was either very hot or in the middle of a downpour. Visiting Ala Ule offered some perfect weather and was definitely a highlight to my trip.
